A working conference to understand the threats and opportunities posed by the Government’s Spending Review 2019 for London’s voluntary sector.
The Government has announced a major Spending Review which will set the overall amount of money it spends on public services for the next five years. It is expected to come into effect from the Budget in November 2019.
The run up to the review presents a major opportunity to influence the Government’s thinking on the funding of local services provided by the statutory and voluntary sectors in London.

A conference bringing together the public and private sectors to discuss the housing crisis and identify policy solutions in these increasingly difficult times. Cllr Darren Rodwell, executive member for housing and planning and leader, LB Barking & Dagenham, and Tony Pidgley CBE, chairman of the Berkeley Group plc will frame the debate and we will particularly be looking at the following areas:
London Councils will be running a seminar to consider good practice from across London on how boroughs engage with and support their local businesses.
We will also hear from business groups on their views about how boroughs can best promote the local economy, including speakers from West London Business and the Federation of Small Businesses.
This event will help inform London Councils work on developing a Charter for Business, setting out with business how we work better together, promoting inclusive economic development.
London Councils are running a seminar for boroughs on delivering affordable workspace.
The objective of the morning is to share good practice and discuss live-examples of how boroughs are delivering and enabling new affordable workspace. There will be plenty of time for networking and questions and for boroughs to share where they are at in this area.
